Lip injections

With time, the lips tend to thin due to a loss of hydration in this sensitive area and their contour is less clearly defined.
Smoking and repeated sun exposure make this area dry out even faster. Also, at an early age, the mouth may lack symmetry and/or volume, and may even be out of proportion in relation to the rest of the face (size of the eyes, thickness of the nose, height of the forehead and chin, etc.).
Finally, because the skin on the lips is so thin, peri-buccal wrinkles, including smokers’ wrinkles, can appear.

For all of these reasons, Doctor Schinazi may recommend hyaluronic acid injections following an in-depth examination of your whole face and peri-buccal area.

Injection techniques

The injection technique used by Dr James Schinazi will depend on your requirements and his diagnosis:

Micro-injections with a needle are better for giving the lips more volume, correcting any asymmetry and reshaping the mouth contour.
Injections with micro-cannulas allow us to achieve a hydrated, slightly voluminous yet very natural effect in the lips. This superficial injection technique allows us to achieve a “glossy-lipped” effect. Note that you may feel more sensitivity if a cannula is used instead of a needle, but there is less risk of bruising.

Recommendations

Some recommendations must be taken into account:

If you have a history of herpes labialis (cold sores), an anti-viral medicine will be prescribed to avoid any risk of a flare-up caused by the stress of the injections.
In the event of serious swelling, and/or little lumps after injection (small deposits of hyaluronic acid that pose no risk at all), it is a good idea to apply a warm compress and vigorously massage the area for two minutes several times a day for the first few days.
If you experience swelling, taking arnica can help the swelling go down in just a few days.

What to expect…

Once a diagnosis has been established and all counter-indications ruled out, you will be given various pieces of information, as follows:

Any injections carried out in the practice can sometimes give an alarming immediate result in terms of volume, due to the rapid inflammation in this area. But this is always just a temporary result that will lessen by 10 to 20% after a few days, once the inflammation has gone down.
The 48 hours following the injections can be the most startling due to the new inflammation, but this phenomenon is never permanent. It is therefore a good idea to limit your professional and personal interactions in the 2 days following treatment.
This is a very sensitive area but, with our injection techniques, the procedure is nonetheless bearable thanks to the anaesthetic in all the injectables, as well as the application of a small vibrating platform (Vibrata) around the mouth.

We ask you not to apply any anaesthetic creams before your lip injections because the lips tend to swell up with these topical products and this can hinder us when deciding what quantities to inject to achieve a satisfactory result.

The fee charged for this type of treatment is 350 euros, which corresponds to injecting one blister of hyaluronic acid into the lips, regardless of the technique used (Russian Lips or cannula injections).
