Rosacea

Rosacea is characterised by the visible dilation of the small, superficial veins (capillaries) on the face.
It generally develops around the nose, on the cheeks and on the chin, most often on pale, sensitive skin.
It is often confused with erythrosis, which is a “background” redness without any visible blood vessels.

We only treat rosacea with our Nd Yag lasers, preferably during periods of limited sun exposure, in one or two sessions spaced one to two months apart. Our qualified laser practitioners perform these treatments in our practice.

The after-effects are usually mild, just a touch of post-laser redness for a few days, perhaps even some small scabs, but these are only temporary providing you do not expose your skin to ultraviolet rays in the month after each treatment.

The fee charged for this type of laser treatment depends on the extent of the rosacea, but usually starts at 100 euros per session.

What is rosacea (couperose)?
It is a visible dilation of small superficial blood vessels (capillaries) on the face, mainly affecting the nose, cheeks and chin, most often on fair, reactive skin. It differs from erythrosis, which is a background redness without visible vessels.

How is rosacea treated?
The practice treats only couperose, using Nd:YAG lasers, performed by qualified laser doctors. It is recommended to treat during periods of low sun exposure.

What are the after-effects of a session?
The after-effects are generally mild: redness lasting a few days and sometimes small crusts may appear after the laser. These effects are temporary provided UV exposure is avoided for one month after each session.

Generally one to two sessions are needed, one to two months apart. The fee depends on the extent of the rosacea and starts at around 150 euros per session.
