Mesotherpay for the scalp

In a non-pathological way, on average we lose 50 hairs per day. If we lose 60 to 70 hairs or more every day, for a long period, this phenomenon becomes pathological.

Hair loss

Hair loss is a completely normal phenomenon that is an integral part of the hair cycle, which is made up of 3 phases:

  • The anagen phase or growth phase, which concerns most hairs. On average it lasts 2 to 6 years.
  • The catagen phase, when the hairs stop growing, concerns a small minority of the hairs (2 to 3%). It lasts just under a month.
  • The telogen phase, when the hairs die then become detached from the scalp, concerns around 20% of hairs. It generally lasts 3 months.

Men and women

In men, baldness is caused by several factors (some of which can be avoided):

  • genetics
  • the scalp’s hypersensitivity to male hormones (testosterone)
  • aging
  • stress
  • bad hygiene or dietary habits (smoking, unbalanced diet, etc.)

In women, alopecia is very common after the menopause and currently affects 60 to 70% of women who do not undergo hormone replacement therapy.

Just like in men, there are certain factors that increase hair loss in women, which are:

  • oestrogen deficiency and increased levels of male hormones after the menopause
  • post childbirth
  • stress
  • bad hygiene or dietary habits (smoking, unbalanced diet, etc.)
  • repeated sun exposure

Treatment

The treatment of this pathological hair loss is based on mesotherapy, which is repeated micro-injections into the surface of the scalp using very fine needles.

The aim of this technique is to stop the hairs falling out then stimulate regrowth.

These issues need treating as early as possible if we want to achieve real results.

We recommend having 1 or 2 treatments per year as a preventative (maintenance) measure to strengthen the hairs and slow down their loss.

The products injected contain a blend of vitamins, mainly antioxidants, which fight oxidative stress and stop the hairs from falling out.

The scalp’s vitality is stimulated, its seborrheic condition gradually improves, and the hairs fall out less.

The recommend protocol is as follows:

  • “Attacking” treatment: 1 session per week for 2 months in order to stop the hair loss
  • Then 1 session every two weeks for 2 to 3 months
  • “Maintenance” treatment: one session every two to three months (or more often if needed)

On average, it takes three months for the hair loss to slow down and regrowth to begin.

In Dr Schinazi’s practice, the scalp mesotherapy protocol is carried out by his assistant doctors and each session is followed by a light therapy (LED) session, which has a synergic action on hair stimulation.

The fee charged for this type of treatment is 100 euros per session.
