Medium peel

The medium peels carried out in our practice are trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peels whose concentrations vary according to the indications and phototypes (skin colour).

The main aims of TCA peels are:

To lighten the complexion by causing the skin to shed a few days after each treatment
To reduce superficial lines
To hydrate the skin

For optimum treatment, it is important that a well-defined protocol is followed:

The treatments should preferably be carried out in winter or, at least, when you are not going to be exposed to the sun in order to avoid any pigmentary reactions.
Prepare the skin 2 to 4 weeks before the first peel using bespoke serums which will make the skin’s pH more acidic and help the peel’s active ingredients to penetrate better.

Otherwise the first peel could be seen as preparation for the subsequent peels.

Plan to have 3 to 4 sets of TCA peels with gradually-increasing dosages, spaced 2 to 3 weeks apart.
Protect the skin from UV rays (SPF 50) for the whole treatment period and for at least a month after the end of the protocol.
Use the bespoke serums between each session once the skin is repaired.

TCA peels are performed in the practice by our qualified assistant doctors. They are carried out as follows:

The patient should stop using the skin preparation products (serums) 24 to 48 hours before each session.
The skin is cleansed, all make up is removed.
A foaming “pre-peel” solution is applied to the whole face in order to remove the dead cells from its surface.
The doctor applies the peel itself, using a swab soaked in TCA. Between each layer, the skin’s reaction is observed, and the treatment is halted once the skin starts to turn white (“freezing”).
A cream is then applied to soothe the skin as well as to potentiate the effects of the peel. We only clean the skin 8 to 12 hours after the treatment.
It is then that the skin repair and protection should begin.
The skin starts to shed from day 3, on average, and usually until day 5-7.

The fee charged for TCA peels starts at 150 euros per session.
